3.  The BOMA Standard

 
BOMA refers to the Building Owners and Managers Association, a commercial real estate advocacy group that promotes the interests of those in the industry. BOMA is a primary source of information on office building development, leasing, building operating costs, energy consumption patterns, local and national building codes, legislation, occupancy statistics and technological developments.  PPM is a member of the Orange County Chapter pf BOMA.

In an effort to standardize the measurement and calculation of square footage in commercial buildings, BOMA developed the “BOMA Standard Method” for measuring floor area.  Today it is widely regarded as the industry standard and is the most widely used method for office, retail and industrial buildings.
