PPM was founded in Huntington Beach, California in January of 2002. Our founder, Derek Caldwell, first became interested in property measuring in college, when he would create As-Built site plans for his mother, a landscape architect. She urged Derek to pursue the trade for one simple reason: She hated doing it herself! Derek soon learned that his mother was not alone in this sentiment - most creative design people that he met understood how critical it was to have accurate As-Built plans for their projects, they just didn't want to spend their time creating them. From this basic need PPM was incorporated with the goal of making accurate As-Built drawings easy to obtain.
In 2003 Derek was joined in the business by Andy McFarland, a lifelong friend. The two had always shared an interest in mathematics, and they found that As-Built measuring was essentially a math problem. They set out to create building measuring and drafting systems that would minimize the probability of plan errors through mathematical best practices. To this day, it is this adherence to strict measurement and quality assurance systems which is the strength of PPM's As-Built process.
PPM moved to Long Beach in the summer of 2004, and continues to serve all of Southern California, as well as projects nationwide. We are continually improving our measuring systems to ensure that we are always able to provide the highest possible accuracy and quality on our drawings. We have measured over 5,000 properties of all sizes and types, giving us the experience and know-how to take on just about any As-Built project.
